It’s election year, undoubtedly.

The moronic masses who cheer at every stupid idea a political leader comes up with absolutely astound me. I wonder how these people function in their daily lives, but more importantly – who the fuck is stupid enough to employ these idiots!?

The latest desperate vote-grabbing attempt is this:

“JOHN Howard is going to spend $189 million on “cleaning up the internet” for Australian families, blocking pornography, upgrading the search for chat-room sex predators and cutting off terror sites.”

I’m not sure if this sounds as stupid to you as it does to me, so i’ll spell it out for the simple people.

Reason: Internet censorship: Do the issues in China (and to a lesser extent, Malaysia) ring any bells? Who decides what is, or isn’t undesirable content? You don’t want a national ID card, but you’ll let the govt filter/monitor your internet access? Go take a powerdrill to your temple.

Every Australian family will be provided with a free internet filter and the federal Government will enter an unprecedented partnership with service providers to filter pornography at the source.

Communications and Australian Federal Police resources will be boosted immediately to expand checks on internet chat rooms to detect child predators, and privacy laws masking sex offenders on the net will be altered.

The Prime Minister unveiled his new net commandments last night on a webcast to more than 700 churches and thousands of churchgoers around the country.

Mr Howard and Kevin Rudd delivered the addresses on the 2007 election campaign to 770 Christian churches of all denominations.

Kevin Rudd supports this shit? Whoops, there goes my vote. He just nullified any faith I had in him. Period.

Now, spouting all this at some churchie conference is laughable in itself, proving that it’s just a vote grabbing stunt. But that doesn’t mean they’re not going to try and implement this thing..

Do they really think they can monitor EVERY communication medium/protocol/website for porn and pedophiles?

Can they guarantee there won’t be ‘false positives’ hindering a normal person’s internet experience?

Here’s a better idea: Sterilize all the stupid hicks who think this is a good idea – that way they won’t breed even stupider people.

It’s a waste of time and taxpayers’ money, obviously, but i think Mr. Rudd is just making sure he doesn’t get left behind when he’s this close to the elections. It’s not good if Labor sits back saying its not gonna work and they end up looking like they don’t care.
