Holidaying by Public Convenience
Due to my tropical holiday IBS I had the opportunity to see many different styles of porcelain whilst on my holiday. Specifically, toilets. Though I didn’t visit anywhere near as many as the previous trip, (this year’s weather wasn’t as hot/humid) I thought i’d snap a photo of the ones I did visit. And then i’d rate them.
P.S. No ‘action’ was discovered during this data gathering process. Heehee..
Singapore

(Left) VivoCity – Level 1: One of the newest shopping centres in Singapore. Clean toilet. Ample toilet paper. Has a proximity sensor which detects when you’re finished, and flushes. Fairly busy.
(Right) Bugis Junction – Level 3: Another clean toilet with a large roll of paper. This one also has a sensor that automatically flushes when you’re done. Level 3 is not as busy as 1 and 2, which had queues (hence why I ended up on L3).

(Left) The Heeren – Level 3: Like the rest of The Heeren, the toilets are really showing their age. They have paper, but they’re nothing special. Also a strangely large amount of water in the bowl. If you’re not careful your guys might get wet… And the stupid sensors don’t work properly either – they randomly flush while you’re still sitting on the toilet! Grrr.
(Right) Wheelock Place – Level B2: Probably the nicest toilet of the lot – not very busy (the ones upstairs see more traffic), has toilet paper and a sensor. Nice granite/marble. Clean. If it was a hotel room, i’d definitely say ‘i’ll be coming back’. Hee.
Malaysia

Dodgy Malaysian highway rest stop: The most horrid toilet experience of my holiday… actually.. ever. I. had. to. use. a. HOSE!. My fault for not bringing my backpack with me.. i’d packed a roll so I didn’t end up in this exact situation. But it was an emergency! Bah. As far as dodgy hose toilets on highways go though, at least it wasn’t a SQUAT.

(Left) Midvalley – New Wing: Clean, with sensors. BUT NO PAPER! This time I had my own roll of TP in my backpack so I didn’t care. Busy. Glass door (not transparent!) had a big crack down it, just waiting to fall apart. Bit of a stupid idea really.
(Right) KLCC – Level 4: Strange rectangular toilets, but did the job. Clean. Had toilet paper. Autoflushers. Pretty busy.
Singapore

Marina Square – Level 1: Another one that’s seen better days, but still works. The picture makes it look better than it was (colour correction, ah). Had strange yellowish lighting that made white things look piss-yellow. Ample toilet paper. Not very busy. The sensors played up here too, but I discovered something: Spit on a single square of toilet paper, and it’ll stick to the front of the sensor glass. Then wipe it off when you’re done. Problem solved.
So now if you eat anything dodgy from the roadside stalls or food courts, at least you know where a few decent toilets are. Just incase.
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
FINALLY! WAs wondering when you were gonna put up the post about the toilets
